T0820 - Digital-tutors Painting Multiple Channels in Mudbox



n this course we will use Mudbox to paint multiple textures and channels as we create a retro ray gun.

Although Mudbox is a powerful sculpting tool, one of the features that make it stand apart is the ability to paint multiple texture channels. When creating textures for your models, painting interactively in the 3d view is a really fast and effective way to work. In Mudbox, we can paint color as well as create channels like bump, specular, and reflection and see all of that detail as we paint. In this course we’ll learn to create and modify multiple texture channels like those mentioned above. We’ll blend together multiple paint layers to achieve specific effects, cover the use of stamps, and learn to use the projection brush with a stencil to add decals. For our example we’ll use a retro ray gun toy, but the techniques you’ll learn will apply to anything you’d like to paint in Mudbox.

T0759 - Digital-tutors Introduction to Stitcher 2009


In this series of lessons, we’ll learn how to use Stitcher to create panoramic images. Stitcher comes with many tools built to make the panorama creation process hassle-free. In only a few minutes, we will be able to take fisheye photographs and render a seamless 360 degree panorama. We’ll begin this project by learning how to import, stitch, and render images in the user interface. From there, we will learn the various settings we have to control our render quality and how to get the best possible output. Next we’ll learn about the editing tools of Stitcher, such as Manual Stitch, Alignment, Stencils, PSD Stencils and Custom Nadir. We will also learn how to create High Dynamic Range panoramas. We’ll end by learning how we can use the advanced output features of QuickTime VR in Stitcher to create virtual tours and links between QuickTime panorama movies. This series of lessons will illustrate how Stitcher can be used to quickly create large-dimension images and cylindrical, cubical, or spherical panoramas.

In this series of lessons we’ll learn how to get started using the compositing software Toxik. Using Toxik we can quickly color correct, mask, composite, or animate still images and image sequences. We’ll begin this project by learning the basic project/composition creation process, learning how to move around the Toxik user interface, begin compositing images together and render out our finished material. We'll then move into the common uses of Toxik such as color correction, garbage masks, blending modes, and animation. This series of lessons is a great starting point to learning Toxik. By learning the tools and fundamental workflows of Toxik, we will be able to create complex effects and images in no time. This will allow us to begin exploring other areas of Toxik and start using Toxik in our own production pipeline.
