01. Create a Breakup into Particles Logo Transition

A very popular request is how to make a logo breakup into particles and reform into another logo.

There's many ways to achieve this and most of them require a full 3D application, but in this

tutorial we learn how to achieve it all in After Effects using a 3D particle systems and a few smoke

and mirrors.

Effects. You can follow me on Twitter @aescripts

02. Create an Illuminating “Light Painting” Effect

You've surely seen a "light painting" photograph by now. Sprint made it very popular in their latest

advertising campaign, but it's been around for a long time, Picasso made a light painting in 1949. In

Author: Ben McEwan

Ben McEwan grew up in Canberra, Australia. He started learning visual effects from a young age and

persistantly followed his dreams. Today, Ben does freelance work for feature films, short films and

television programs, and one day hopes to win an Academy Award.

This effect is loosely based off the traditional method of shooting still photographs with a slow

exposure to capture the motion path of a light. This tutorial is filled with many small tips and

tricks for Adobe After Effects to enhance the average user's knowledge and speed up their workflow.

If you would like some footage to experiment with, you can download the footage here

12. Learn how to Create Chromatic Aberration

Chromatic aberration is the failure of a lens to focus all colors to the same point. To a

cinematographer this can be an undesired effect, but in motion graphics it can be a very nice

addition. While it would be great to capture chromatic aberration naturally with real lenses, most

modern lenses aim to minimize this effect. This is why we are dedicating this tutorial to learning

how to recreate this phenomenon using built-in after effects plugins.

Author: Lloyd

Effects. You can follow me on Twitter @aescripts

13. Animate Type the Old School Way

It's easy to get excited over the latest plugin or technology, but that inevitably leads to stuff

that all looks the same. So to get something new and original, sometimes you just need to go Old

School! Before computers, the way to produce type animations was to get creative with some props and

a camera. Lloyd shows us how to use some reflective paper and a camera to capture some very fresh

type animation. Of course he will also show you how to use After Effects as a finishing tool to bring

it all together; this is Aetuts+ after all!

16. Create Your Own “Private Ryan” Movie Shot - Day 1

You don't have to be Steven Spielberg, you don't need millions of dollars, you don't even need more

than one actor to make your own war movie (well, one shot anyway). In this two day tutorial series,

Michal will show you how to create a realistic war movie shot using only one actor and a camera man.

Day 1 will show you: Color correction, realistic camera shake, and bullets hitting the ground on fast

footage. These are just pointers to lead you on your track to making convincing war movie visual

effects.

22. Create a Rhythmic ‘Beat-shake’ Effect

In this tutorial you'll learn how to make moving geometric shapes shake and shudder as if they've

been moved by the vibrations of a beat. You'll learn how to sync this effect to music and create the

building blocks of a stunning and futuristic music video.

T0515 - Francesco Legrenzi - VRay The Complete Guide Full (PDF + DVD files)

VRay: THE COMPLETE GUIDE is the first book in the world completely devoted to VRay. Its aim is to provide an avanced support for the specialists in this branch. All too often we lose a lot of time searching the meaning of a particular parameter. Who hasn’t spent entire days trying to understand what was wrong with their rendering? Having some “presets” is not enough: it is necessary to understand and have knowledge of the tools daily used. This is the only way thanks to which you’ll be able to face more and more difficult tasks.

VRay: THE COMPLETE GUIDE was born thanks to two year’s hard work, during which we tried to produce a high-quality handbook committed to VRay’s users. Not just a basic list of commands, but a special tool, composed by technical and theorical parts, by which you’ll be carried away! You’ll be able to find, through 1000 pages, 2300 images and 3200 renderings expressly created for this handbook. Enclosed you’ll also find a DVD-ROM containing 32 animations in .mov format, bearing examples otherwise impossible to understand via images only. It’s an unrepeatable handbook, difficult to find elsewhere: made up of 1000 pages, full colour, 20×28x5cm (other manuals are usually smaller: 17×23x3cm). Bound with extreme care, through paperback binding stitched with wire referendum and not simply glue, it holds up through the time. The hardback cover also is hardbound disk, allowing a better usability.

The handbook is made up of 9 CHAPTERS:
01. INTRODUCTION
02. THE BROAD HISTORY OF CG
03. VRay: Renderer - PART 1
04. VRay: Renderer - PART 2
05. VRay: MATERIALS AND MAPS
06. VRay: CAMERAS AND LIGHTS
07. VRay: OBJECT & ENVIRONMENT
08. VRay: RENDER ELEMENTS
09. VRay: UPDATING

Work Files are included.

T0513 - Lynda.com - InDesign CS4 10 Free Must-Have Scripts

InDesign CS4 is filled with features that can save time and trouble in the design process, but there is a more efficient way to achieve results using scripts. In InDesign CS4: 10 Free Must-Have Scripts, David Blatner calls upon his comprehensive experience as he demonstrates how scripts can automate repetitive, time-consuming tasks.
David shows how to install and run his top ten free scripts. These scripts have a wide range of functionality, like building a year’s worth of calendars in seconds, performing a dozen find/change queries with one double-click, and converting an imported InDesign file back into editable objects.

Exercise files accompany the course.

T0511 - Fume FX Advanced - the ultimate solution for Fume FX Training

The sequel to the highly acclaimed Fume FX: Essentials, which is has
made its way into practically every major visual effects studio
around the world as their primary resource for fluids and Fume FX, as
well as utilized during the development of many big Hollywood visual
effects films. With over 10,000 units sold, this makes the Fume FX: Essentials the most popular fluids training resource for 3D Studio Max
in the world!

Just released, the new and highly anticipated Fume FX: Advanced, focuses
on covering many of the advanced subjects for fluid simulations,
creating photo realistic Fire and smoke, and massive explosions that
rival most real explosions and stock footage. This DVD prepares both intermediate and professionals alike, for tackling the most difficult of visual effects shots, with confidence and solid knowledge and understanding of fluids and particles, shaders and compositing to conquer the most ambitious FX and approach the tasks correctly.

This DVD covers industry techniques and walks through many practical examples of real life visual effects shots, from the initial pre-production and planning, building scripts to automate your tasks and enhance particles to manage your fluids containers for you, or to be driven by your fluids, all the way through to rendering and preparing your scenes, rendering, and finally compositing the final effects into your visual effects shots.

With high resolution and crystal clear sound, and over 24
hours of video! This DVD is the ultimate training solution for both film
and game studios alike! Aimed at advanced users, the DVD does cover topics thoroughly and explain methods clearly enough that most people should still be able to follow at any level, but having a good solid understanding of FX is recommended.
