T0888 - OneLight Photography Workshop with Zack Arias

A year of planning and 8 months of production later this thing is ready to get out into the public! Zack Arias have worked very hard to make this a product you are going to enjoy, learn from, and be inspired by. It is not a DVD about Zack Arias talking about himself. It is not a DVD with a dude in a studio going on and on and on about mountains of technical jargon. It isn't a 2 hour commercial for his corporate sponsor. He doesn't have a corporate sponsor. Zack Arias not here to sell you gear. In fact, he'll probably talk you out of buying some gear at some point. Is off camera flash intimidating? Are you a bit fearful of it? It is Zack Arias' goal to get you to drop all the fear and intimidation and get your flash off camera as God intended it to be used! Once the "light bulb" goes off in your head, you'll see how simple it really can be and you will see your photography grow by leaps and bounds. You'll have so much more confidence to take on any project that comes your way.

T0886 - Blender DVD Training The ManCandy FAQ

The 3D character ManCandy has been created by Bassam Kurdali for testing and teaching animation techniques. Over the past year it has become a wonderfully flexible character, deserving to become the first of the titles in the Open Movie Workshop series.

The ManCandy FAQ is a collection of animations and video tutorials for rigging and animating with ManCandy. The animations are in question and answer format (hence the title) and are intended to be a fun way of documenting the rig.

//
//

The video tutorials are a little more serious, and are divided into animation and rigging topics. Animation tutorials cover setting up files and linking, animating an arm motion in FK, doing a cartoony take and walkcycles. Rigging topics are arranged according to the parts of ManCandy's body - there are sections for the hands, torso, face, legs, etc.

While this is not a basic rigging tutorial (viewers should have a basic knowledge of the Blender interface and the bare minimum of armatures and animation ) there is a basics/primer tutorial that quickly goes through blender rigging and animation features, such as lattices, armatures, weight painting, etc.

There is also a short bonus rigging breakdown tutorial on a simple surprise character (not ManCandy.)

The information presented overall captures most of the Elephants Dream production rigs with many improvements that were aimed at assisting the Plumiferos project.

The DVD includes an HTML interface that itself contains some written tutorial/reference material, a collection of videos (Animations in 640x480 resolution, Tutorials in 1024x768 resolution), the ManCandy 2.0 blend file, the mystery character blend file, all the blend files for the animations on the DVDs, and of course some helper blend files for the tutorials.

Once the modeling of our new character is complete we will start preparing our model for texturing. The first step is laying out the Uv’s for all the separate parts of the body to make them flat so we can get a nice clean UV snap shot for our painted textures. On completion of are UV snap shot we will import into the paint program Photoshop. You will learn how to use layers for different areas as well as how to stain up certain parts of the body like the head and shirt for a more natural look.

T0881 - Kurv Studios - LightWave 3D 3D Print and Illustration for 2D Artists.Vol.1

  • Most video professionals approach LightWave and other 3D programs without a background or understanding of print. Yet eventually, all 3D artists are asked to create artwork for print. Most print artists find high-end 3D programs perplexing, but want to use 3D tools for specific tasks only. Print artists need an introduction to a high-end 3D program that will help them quickly get what they need out of it. 3D artists need an understanding of how print works as well as an understanding of what to do to make their 3D images appropriate and even ideal for print.

  • Print for LightWave Artists will help Graphic artist

About the Artist:

Brad Krause lives and works in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from UW Eau Claire in 1988 with a degree in graphic design. Not being a graphic designer, he quickly plummeted to the bottom of the print design heap and worked in print production for six years, preparing other people's artwork to be printed on plastic packaging and boxes. In the meantime he practiced his airbrush, drafting, and inking skills. Buying his first Mac quickly landed him a job in a graphic design studio as an illustrator and designer, and he's been doing graphic design, illustration, web, technical writing, and print production ever since. He acquired LightWave with version 5.0 when it came out for the Macintosh. During the day he runs a graphic design studio for a point-of-purchase company and in the evening he works on freelance 3D projects. You can see some samples of his work at his web site, http://www.radiance-media.com.

You can also find other tutorials from Brad in HDRI Magazine, formerly Keyframe from time to time.
